Here's another one that really hurts. I was fortunate enough to get to talk with Mr. Shaughnessy quite a bit at last year's Chicago Drum Show. He told me all the details of the infamous Ray Charles incident and some other very funny Tonight Show antidotes. He called two weeks ago to tell us he couldn't make it back this year because he wasn't feeling well and his doctor advised him not to travel. Well, now we know just how sick he really was.

Ed was a true gentleman and, of course, a phenomenal drummer.

Sorry to hear this. I agree. A true gentleman and a dynamite drummer.

RIP Ed Shaughnessy. A staple on the Tonight Show. Loved his drumming.
ChiDrummer; if you would be so kind, what was the Ray Charles incident? I heard that some drummers did not like to play for him because he would slow the tempo down to funeral marches.
