This is kind of a two pronged question:

All I have ever seen and own of the Isley Brothers output from the period of 1973-1983 is what they released commercially. Has anything in the way of concerts or studio outtakes ever surfaced? I am mostly interested in the more heavy rock and blues material. I like some of the ballads, but have little interest in them as far as obscure recordings are concerned.

Next, there is a very rare album that the Isley Brothers recorded with Jimi Hendrix. I have several people who want a copy of this, including myself. Does anyone have a clue as to where this recording can be found? I have searched the web to no avail.

I can only answer the second part of your question. The album that features Jimi with the Isleys is called "In The Beginning." It's a recordings with the Isleys and Jimi from 1964. If you do a Google search,I'm sure you will find it.

Here's a track from the album, and you can really hear Jimi's rhythm guitar playing.

It's great! Listening to this, it's apparent to me they made a mistake going to Motown.

I'm convinced "Move Over" was the inspiration for Jimi's "Fire"

Disc 3 of Legacy's ,"It's Yor Thing ,The Story Of The Isley Bros" ,has some "live studio" versions of ,"Groove With You" ,"For The Love Of You "and "Don't Say GoodNight" , that are very good ,but no dates are given for the recording dates. It's a good set to have , 3 discs.

WOW! Jimmy's guitar playing is so much nicer to hear without the fuzz-tone distortion! You can hear the great picking better. If that had been released, it would have been put out by Atlantic-distributed T-Neck [[as "Testify" was).

I'm still glad they moved over to Motown. They made a lot of good recordings we'd be missing now, if they hadn't.
