20 Grand Club in Detroit

It has been stated that the Free Press Magazine on 9/20/1987 had an extensive major article in it on the 20 Grand. A recent review of the archives determined that this is an incorrect date that the magazine had the article in it.

Does anyone have the article and can they either scan it into the forum or provide the correct date the article appeared.

So was the NEW 20 Grand [[3067 East Grand Boulevard) that was operating by 1980 a completely different club ??
Guess so as the original venue had been destroyed by fire [[arson?) in June 76.

The "New 20 Grand" at 3067 E. Grand Blvd. was actually the former Latin Quarters under a different name.

The Savoy Lounge [[1002 Blum St) was in trouble by May 67. The City were trying to close the venue down as it attracted 'unsavory persons' !!!
