Just watched the [[soccer) FA Cup final between Manchester City [[the faves) & Wigan Athletic.
Wigan won in a match watched [[on TV) by 500 million people across the world.
After the final whistle at Wembley Stadium [[London) the Wigan team & fans were celebrating.
Lots of the worldwide TV audience would have been gone after the game finished but lots would still have been watching.
ANYWAY, with the top NS club back in the day being Wigan Casino, the football [[soccer) club has adopted an old NS anthem as one of their club songs and so it was broadcast over the stadium's public address system around 10 minutes after the match.
I don't know how many millions would still have been watching but Dean Parrish's non-hit "I'm On My Way" was the song that was played.
It can't be bad when a song that sold just a few hundred copies in the US back in the mid to late 60's is heard by such a massive audience some 45 years later.

What a great game, and in the very finest traditions of the underdog coming through, how very much Wigan deserved to win. I love their chairman, a real football man, also the manager who I believe went to the club as a player.
Next season I hope it will be my club, Charltons Athletics' time, and I want to campaign that their tune will be Otis Reddings' version of 'Down in the valley'.
