Oh my. It often distresses me when singers take big liberties with familiar material, although I can understand how tedious it must be for them to present a song the same way, year after year after year. Billie Holiday once remarked that to sing a song the same way without variation all the time is probably more like yodeling but isn't really singing and she did have a point, but Martha gets to trilling up and down the scales and eventually the song she's singing bears little or no resemblance to its original design and this disturbs me. She has proven she's still got the pipes, and when she sticks closer to the original formula it almost always comes off better than this.
