Does anyone recall the exact year that Motown purchased homes for Diana, Mary and Florence on Buena Vista ? All I can find from past threads and the internet was when money started rolling in the homes were purchased.

I'm just wondering when Florence was kicked out the group if it was kinda akward for the women to live on the same block? I just kind of imagine how strange it would be to be neighbors with someone at the time I didn't get along with.

I have a another question when did Diana and Mary move out of Detroit and when they went to LA did their families still live in their houses or did they go up for sale?

Well, Diana and Mary were rarely home during the late 60s as they toured constantly. When they were home they were usually recording.

Diana and Mary moved to LA in 1969. Diana Ross still owns her home in Detroit. Last I heard Rita lived in it. I think Mary sold hers in the 70s, but her mom lived in it for a period

Nope. Mary didn't sell that house. Her cousin Josephine lived in one part of it and the other side was rented.

You might find the Wayne County on line real estate search link helpful in such cases:

I did a quick search for Mary Wilson but came up empty. I did, however, find two pages under Motown Record Corporation. It appears Motown sold the former Artist Development buidling, 2657 W. Grand Blvd., to the sorority in 1978 and 1979.

Thanks Reese for responding,
A friend of mine sent me a pic of Diana standing outside her home 3760 and 3762. I am thinking one of those was the upstairs where she stayed when home and the downstairs were for her brother Chico and Mother. I was curious because of the fame that finally hit them and when Motown finally said we need to get them out of Brewster.

Last I heard Mary nor the Ballards owned the property on Buena Vista but that Diana still owned hers according to county records.

It was in 1965.

Cholly and Mae Atkins lived in part of Mary's house.

I didn't realize Diana still owned that house in Detroit. She has done well over the years with real estate investments.

That's true they lived there in the late 60's and early 70's. Coincedentally, he coached Linda Tucker aka Lynda Laurence there when she was singing around Detroit in those days.

I didn't realize Diana still owned that home. Florence lost her's to
foreclosure back in the mid-70s when the press discovered she
was on welfare. I think her home was directly across the street
from Diana's.

Last I heard, and this was some time back, Rita was living in Diana's house.

According to T. Burton's book, Home in Detroit, on Buena Vista, Diana lived at 3762, Florence at 3767 and Mary at 4099.

Yes, that would be correct but if I am mistaken Mary and Diana house had two house numbers but the girls owned but shares. At any rate it looks as though Motown moved them in their new homes in 1965.

Mary sold it in the early 80's in order to collect funds to buy in LA.
