On April 25, 1920, Esther Gordy Edwards was born in Oconee, Georgia. If she were alive today she would be celebrating her 93rd birthday.

It would be appropriate if everyone observed a minute of silence today and would remember her in their thoughts and prayers.

She was truly a wonderful person and we all owe a debt of gratitude to her for establishing the Motown Museum. If it weren't for her, the museum and its legacy would probably not exist.

Thank you Mrs. Edwards for all your interest in preserving the Motown history for everyone to enjoy and cherish in the future.

Thank you for the post, woodward. Well done. I'm fortunate to live but about 20 minutes away from the Motown Museum. Each time I visit I do remember Esther Gordy Edwards for, without her, there likely would be no museum. The museum is a true gem in the city and we have Esther to thank for that.

I will never forget the first time I met Ester Gordy and her asking me, " Who is your Favorite artist" ? After that we talked for a couple of hours.

A truly remarkable woman. My brother and I referred to her as Aunty Esther.
