There are concert dates listed for what appears to be shaping up as a world tour for Diana in 2013. It has been hinted that there will also be dates in Europe. Most of these dates have not been confirmed by Diana, so I don't know how true this is. I can't remember the last time Diana appeared in South America. Check out the dates.

Its good to see Diane Ross on tour again. I may go see Diane at the Hollywood Bowl in August with my nephew and his partner. She always out on a real good show. I was real surprised to see Diane Ross has 325000 facebook followers. Thats a lot of fans.

I wish the First lady of Motown Dr martha Reeves would play the Hollywood Bowl. that would be a dream come true for me.

34 rue du Louvre Paris Becca Cason Thrash is putting finishing touches on plans for next month's Liaisons au Louvre Trois gala in Paris with the announcement that superstar singer Diana Ross will be the featured entertainment.

Ross, whose iconic career has included a multitude of chart-topping songs as a solo artist and lead singer of the Supremes and movies [[she was nominated for an Oscar for portraying Billie Holiday in Lady Sings the Blues), will perform underneath the fabled I.M. Pei pyramid before an intimate audience at "La Grand Nuit," a black-tie affair in the fable Louvre on June 18.

"I wanted an iconic performer with songs that people knew the lyrics to. Then I wanted fashion and glamour. Who embodies that more than Diana Ross?" Cason Thrash emailed from Europe, where she is in the midst of preparations.

"I wanted an iconic performer with songs that people knew the lyrics to. Then I wanted fashion and glamour. Who embodies that more than Diana Ross?"
The evening, which also includes cocktails in the Venus de Milo gallery and a seated dinner in the Galerie Daru, in view of the Victoire de Samothrace, will cap three days of social events to raise funds for the American and International Friends of the Louvre, of which Cason Thrash is vice chair, and the vaunted museum.

Other activities include a dinner at the residence of U.S. Ambassador to France Charles H. Rivkin and his wife, Susan Tolson, a private tour of the Louvre, a visit to couture designer Jean-Paul Gaultier's atelier and an exclusive dinner at the Palais du Luxembourg, the home of the French Senate, where such an event is rarely allowed.

On the day after the "La Grande Nuit" gala, designer Andrew Gn, a favorite of Houston's social set, is hosting a "hangover" brunch for the Houston women attending the festivities. A large contingent of Houstonians, totaling nearly 50, is crossing the pond to take part in the festivities.

It is the third time that Cason Thrash has set her sights on raising significant funds for the Louvre in Paris. In June 2008, the Houston dynamo impressed European charity circles with the inaugural Liaisons au Louvre that raised $2.7 million and stood as a first for the museum in terms of private fundraising on such a scale. Duran Duran performed at the inaugural event.

In June, 2011, she raised more than $3.8 million for the museum at Liaisons au Louvre II, which featured featured a full-blown show by Janet Jackson.

Among the guests rumored to attend Liasons au Louvre Trois are actresses Milla Jovovich, Diane Kruger and Salma Hayek, with her husband Francois Henri Pinault, chairman and CEO of French luxury firm PPR, designers Gaultier, Christian Louboutin and Alber Elbaz, author Danielle Steele and Charlotte Casiraghi, the granddaughter of Princess Grace of Monaco.

Also on hand will be three Duran Duran members, Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes and John Taylor, and their significant others, all of whom are close friends with Cason Thrash and her husband, John Thrash. Taylor and wife Gela Nash-Taylor have donated a stay at their English country home, South Wraxall Manor, as a live auction item.

Other live auction items include a work by Anselm Kiefer, donated by art dealer Thaddaeus Ropac, a five-night Nile cruise for eight guests on Louboutin’s private boat and a weekend at the Forbes mansion in Normandy, France.

The attire for "La Grand Nuit" is "extremely formal;" Cason Thrash plans to wear a Gaultier haute couture gown.

Ain’t no river wide enough to keep fans of Diana Ross away from the Saenger Theatre, where the Motown legend will make a live appearance Oct. 30. Where do you begin in describing the 69-year-old diva’s eternal star power? Those of us of a certain age grew up with Ross as a constant presence on the radio [[a primitive device that broadcast music before iPods). She achieved glory both as the front singer with the Supremes and as a solo act. "Where Did Our Love Go," "Someday We'll Be Together," "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," “Touch Me in the Morning,” and “Endless Love” remain soul staples. It would be easy to go on, but brevity demands that we “Stop! In the Name of Love.”

If her singing credits weren’t enough, Ross went on to be nominated for an Academy Award for her fragile portrayal of Billie Holiday in the 1972 movie “Lady Sings the Blues.” She also reprised Judy Garland’s role as Dorothy in a memorable 1978 remake of “The Wizard of Oz” titled “The Wiz,” with her devotee, Michael Jackson.

Ross is also known for her stunning wardrobe selections, which can run the gambit from queenly opulence to bare minimalism -- as a survey of her record album jackets [[primitive devices one used to store musical recordings) will tell you.

Ross’s serpentine 2013 Western Hemisphere tour continues in Sao Paulo Brazil on June 25, and then eases on down the road to 30 South and North America cities before she reaches New Orleans in the fall.

Critic Hector Saldana of the MySA [[San Antonio) website seemed enraptured by Ross’ Jan. 2013 performance.

“Diana Ross delivered a concert for the ages at Majestic Theatre on Tuesday – definitely one that will go down as one of the best of the year,” Saladana wrote. “That the glamorous, upbeat star did so with such ease is the real story. She turns 69 in March. But this legend is ageless. Ross also showed that divas [[like everybody else) wear sweat suits, too, sometimes.

“Of course, in Ross’ case it was when she came back for her second encore after fans refused to leave – even with the house light up and the goodbye music playing. The joyous night was filled with costume changes, trademark stage moves, smiles, dancing and, of course, an avalanche of hits for a crowd of about 2,300. The show was sold-out.”

In a 2010 concert review, Mark Jordan of the GoMemphis website lauded Ross’ verve.

“Her eagerness to entertain showed in the production,” he wrote, “from the extravagantly large band to the glittery and glowing light and video effects. And at the center of it all was Ross — commanding the stage, pulling off quick costume changes, and keeping the show’s breakneck pace on time — setting a pace that would have left even her younger, modern-day successors like Beyoncé winded.”

That’s saying something.

The Saenger Theater is in the final stages of a mass renovation and will reopen Sept. 28 with a performance by comedian Jerry Seinfeld. The Canal Street landmark has been closed since 2005, when the levee failures that followed Hurricane Katrina allowed floodwaters to flow into the old theater. In the intervening eight years, the luxurious 1927 playhouse has undergone a $52 million restoration and expansion of the backstage area led by the City of New Orleans, Canal Street Development Corp., and ACE Theatrical Group.

Ross's Saenger show comes on the heels of a production of "The Book of Mormon" from Oct. 15 to 27.

Tickets to Ross’ Oct. 30 performance are $55, $65, $75, $85 and $125. They go on sale June 28 at 11 a.m. For tickets or more information visit the Saenger Theatre website.

In 1970, Ross branched out to establish a hugely successful solo career. In the following two decades, she became one of the most successful female artists of the rock/pop era parlaying her success into triumphs in film, television and Broadway.

Her first solo venture, the gospel-influenced “Reach Out and Touch [[Somebody’s Hand),” peaked at #20 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album’s second single, a cover of the 1967 hit “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” was an international hit and gave Ross her first #1 pop single as a solo artist. In 1971, Motown released Ross’ second album Everything is Everything, which garnered Ross’s first UK number one solo single, “I’m Still Waiting.” Several months later, Ross released Surrender, which garnered the top 20 pop hit, “Remember Me.” That year, Ross hosted her first solo TV special, Diana! featuring guest appearances by The Jackson 5, Bill Cosby and Danny Thomas.

From 1973 to 1980 Ross turned out a string of top hits including “You Are Everything [[with Marvin Gaye),” “Touch Me in the Morning,” “Why Do Fools Fall in Love,” “Mirror, Mirror,” “All Of My Life,” “Love Hangover,” “Upside Down,” “I’m Coming Out,” and the movie score hits “Theme From Mahogany [[Do You Know Where You’re Going To)” and “It’s My Turn,” both in which she also starred as an actress.
The 1980s saw Ross secure the biggest hit of her career with another movie theme, “Endless Love,” a duet with Lionel Richie. Following was the Top Ten hit “Muscles,” written and produced by Michael Jackson and “Missing You.”
Outside of her recording career, her achievements are many. In 1993, The Guinness Book of World Records jointly awarded her with its “Lifetime Achievement Award” and the title of “most successful female vocalist of all time.” In 1994, the multi-talented singer published her autobiography followed by a dramatic television debut in Out of Darkness, of which she also acted as executive producer. Her role as a victim of schizophrenia earned her glowing reviews and a Golden Globe nomination. In addition to her Oscar®-nominated role in Lady Sings the Blues, she has also starred in The Wiz. Through her own company Anaid Film Productions Inc., she has executive-produced five specials for ABC, CBS, HBO and Showtime.

Ross has been celebrated by MAC Cosmetics and is among the 25 legends [[including Tina Turner, Coretta Scott King and Maya Angelou) honored by Oprah Winfrey as her personal heroines.

In 2012, Ross received her first Grammy – a lifetime achievement award for her contribution to the recording industry – at the 54th Annual Grammy Award Reception. Ross had received a number of Grammy nominations over the course of her 50-year career but never won the award.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Iconic American pop singer Diana Ross will return to Rio on June 29th bringing with her to HSBC Arena a body of work that includes dozens of internationally known hits that span her over five decade career both with The Supremes and as a solo artist.

Presented by XYZ Live, the Brazilian leg of Ms. Ross’ ongoing 2013 Summer Tour features four shows in the three cities of São Paulo, Rio and Curitiba.

Born in 1944 in Detroit, Michigan and raised there in the Brewster-Douglass public housing project, Ross began her remarkable career in 1959 with three other local girls as part of the singing group the Primettes.

After internal line-up changes, they signed with the now famous Motown record label in 1961. Guided by legendary producer and label founder, Berry Gordy, the Primettes would evolve into The Supremes and the most powerful all-girl group to date.

Between 1964 and 1969, they recorded twelve U.S. number one hits and achieved unprecedented mainstream success.

Their songs that included; “Back in My Arms Again”, “Where Did Our Love Go,” “Baby Love,” “Come See About Me” and “Stop! In the Name of Love”, appealed to both black and white American audiences which is something few groups had achieved at that time.

They were so successful that their 1966 album, entitled, The Supremes A’ Go-Go was the first all-female release to reach number one on the U.S. Billboard top 200 chart. Featuring the number one hit “You Can’t Hurry Love”, the album managed to overtake the British Invasion and dethrone the number one seated Beatles’ Revolver album.

“Even though I was young at the time, I found The Supremes through a friend and had the double album with the greatest hits,” a Rio fan told The Rio Times. “I still play them now and think the songs are timeless. Diana’s voice really made them special. It has a nice easy smoothness.”

In 1970, Ross left the group to begin her solo career. On her own Ross proved as successful with 22 album releases with hits that included, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”, “Upside Down”, “Missing You”, “I’m Coming Out” and “Touch Me in the Morning.”

A true performer, known for her energy and stage presence, Ms. Ross also took several turns acting. She earned numerous nominations and a Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer, Female in 1973.

Her acting credits include several Motown Productions, the film and television division of Motown Records. Her 1972 debut “Lady Sings the Blues” won her critical praise as did 1975′s Mahogany, for which she also sang the theme song, “Do You Know Where You’re Going To.”

In 1978 she also appeared in the all-star Motown production, The Wiz, as Dorothy Gale with almost twenty-year-old Michael Jackson. Jackson is just one of many Ross is considered to have influenced during her long career.

Through her work with The Supremes and on her own she helped pave the way for artists like Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland who achieved stardom after the rise of their all-girl group Destiny’s Child. Among her other achievements, her life was also the inspiration for the character of Deena Jones in hit Broadway musical and film, “Dreamgirls”.

On Sunday, June 29th Ross’ show will surely entertain fans who go to see a true entertainer and music legend at work.

I'm looking forward to seeing Diana this summer in Minneapolis.

The last time I saw her [[pun), was in the Twin Cities in 2004, at Mystic Lake Casino.

Personally, I could care less where the former Supremes play, so long as they are healthy enough to continue to tour.

Holy crap! Someone here has common sense and sanity. And I couldn't agree more. Trying to decide where to see her.

Diana Ross didn't let a little drizzle dim her day in that furry coat.
The Ain't No Mountain High Enough singer was every bit the star as she got into a limo in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Wednesday ahead of her show.
Diana huddled in what looked like a red fox fur coat and dark sunglasses as she left the Hotel Fasano to perhaps run some last minute errands before she was due on stage.
Let it rain: Diana Ross stayed warm in a furry coat after arriving in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Wednesday ahead of her concert at the Espaco das Americas
The drizzle pelted the windows of her chauffeur-driven vehicle but she appeared unfazed with big curly hair and a slight smile.

The 69-year-old Motown legend is to perform Wednesday and Thursday nights at the Espaco das Americas.
Diana was looking noticeably relaxed, having come off a relaxing vacation on the coast of Italy with her daughter Tracee Ross.

Retreat: The 69-year-old singer recently enjoyed a holiday in Portofino, Italy with her daughter Tracee Ross and were seen taking in the sights of the coastal town on Monday
Last minute shopping: The legendary star was leaving her posh lodgings at the Hotel Fasano perhaps to run some last minute errands before taking the stage that night
Tracee, 41, is Diana's daughter from her second marriage to music executive Robert Ellis Silberstein, who she divorced in 1977.
The former Supremes singer, who was considered a sex symbol in her 1960s heydey, was seen on Monday strolling the streets of Portefino with her tall daughter.
On that occasion, Diana was dressed down in baggy blue trousers and a loose blue and ivory-petal smock, wearing her signature shades and a sun visor to keep her mop of dark curls at bay.

Not so glamorous today: Diana was dressed down and make-up free as she walked down the cobbled street wearing sunglasses and holding a newspaper
Casual and comfy: The former Supremes icon, who was the sex symbol of her day, covered up in baggy trousers and blue and ivory-flowered smock

She carried a newspaper which she waved in front of her face while Tracee strode beside her in a black sleeveless top and shorts set, as well as visor similar to Diana's.
Tracee seemed a bit more adventurous, tweeting on Monday: 'Riding a bike in Italy!' and

'Rose wine!' she added on Tuesday.
On Wednesday the happy duo bid farewell to Italy with Tracey writing: 'Goodbye Italia! Ciao!'
The refreshing Italian retreat followed Diana's performance on June 18 at the Liaisons Au Louvre III Charity Gala Dinner in Paris, France.
Captivating: Diana was a knock out in red as she performed at the Liaisons Au Louvre III Charity Gala Dinner in Paris, France on June 18
Even after all these years, Diana can still dazzle an audience with her voice and her presence.
Diana's journey to stardom has become part of a hit Broadway musical production, which premiered last Sunday in New York.
Motown: The Musical chronicles her road to fame along with some of her fellow icons from the late 50s and 60s.
The play tells the story behind the groundbreaking genre of music - pioneered by singers like Diana - that hit the airwaves in 1959, produced by record label Motown.
The story centres on Diana and Motown visionary Berry Gordy as they fought against the odds to create a new sound that would come to dominate the charts through the 1960s and 1970s.

Legend continues: The singer's journey to stardom is now part of a Broadway musical production, Motown: The Musical; the singer is pictured performing at The Lincoln Centre in 2003
