It's one my favorites really, there isn't a bad song on the LP.

Yes, agreed. I bought this one when it came out back in the day. I need to find it and give it a spin again.

Woohoo! I just found a sealed vinyl copy of the "Slick" album. I'm going to do a needle drop of it tomorrow. And it was still cheaper, and is of better quality than if I had downloaded it.

I really don't want to spend upwards of $60 on the CD set because I have most of the vinyl already, and have limited funds.

But, the cover is terrible! Maybe it had something to do with why it didn't sell very well.

Heh, great! Although the CD sets were nice, I like Eddie Kendricks better on "records."

Got to agree, Slick is a terrible cover. Eddie's covers more often than not were bad. He's a Friend uses a pic from the Eddie Kendricks photo sessions. Slick was worse--that odd cartoon....The album itself? Pretty cool.

I finished up the drop last night, created the hi-rez, redbook, and mp3 versions. It was a sealed copy and was very clean. There was just no surface noise to speak of except on the intro of the second side. I listened to it and decided that the song and the album isn't that great after all, but it isn't bad, and it is a somewhat rare or forgotten addition to his catalog.

As good as eddie was, after his first two solo albums the rest were just fair, his work with david wasn't bad[just not promoted]and i think that his[1979]release on arista-[something more] was cool.

Well, I disagree with you on that. "The Hits Man", "He's A Friend", and "Boogie Down" are all stone cold classics that feature some of his best work.

I agree, Eddie made really good "albums" for quite a few years. I liked "Goin' Up In Smoke" too.
