Charts are courtesy of Vince Aletti's book, "The Disco Files 1973-1978".

Beginning in Nov. 1974 Vince wrote the weekly Disco File column in Record World and reported the top 10 disco/dance hits played at different clubs throughout the USA. As a disco/dance/club music enthusiast, I thought it would be fun to list the top 10 songs from different clubs. The first few months focused on club playlists from New York and California. By mid-1975 when disco continued to grow in popularity, more clubs from other cities began reporting their top ten so we'll see what cities like Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, Dover, Phoenix, Miami, Atlanta, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., etc. were playing. Enjoy folks!

Hey! Where's "Kung Fu Fighting"? I am almost certain that it was near the top of charts in November 1974.

Yes, it was, but I never considered that disco. If anything, it's funk. It's in the rhythm section and the funky rhythm guitar line. But, I guess it's all in how one hears it.

I always dug "Brazil" by The Richie Family:

How would you classify this one, Quartz - "Beyone the Clouds"? We danced to this one in discos in 1978. It was very popular:

It was a huge hit on the Hot 100 and R&B charts. KFF made Record World's Disco File chart in December '74 as did "Blue Eyed Soul" by Carl Douglas. Both were great songs. You'll see KFF listed in an upcoming Disco File thread.

Marv I remember you from way back when AOL had those music boards, there were many but I remember we'd post on the Supremes & Motown boards. I'd see you, JNardone from NJ, Brthtaking guy, there was a female poster who was a big Marvin Gaye fan, Hawk, man there were some other good folks on there. We had a lot of fun and laughs. I remember we all used to do chime in and come up with our own Motown quizzes. Good memories and I kinda miss those boards!
