http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/people/2013/02/22/jermaine-jackson-officially-changes-name-jacksun/1940215/

The singing brother made the change for 'artistic reasons.'

Here's one way to distance yourself from family drama: Change your very famous last name ever so slightly, to something, well, sunnier.

Jermaine Jackson is now officially Jermaine "Jacksun," according to TMZ.

The 58-year-old singer filed a petition for the name change back in November, and today an L.A. County Superior Court judge approved the request.

At the time, Jackson said he was requesting the spelling switch for "artistic reasons."

Jackson-now Jacksun wasn't around for Friday's hearing because he's off performing in Europe with his brothers, who are still Jacksons, at least as of this writing.

Very odd, though not that surprised.

"Jack" & "sun", get it? He's no longer a "son", but a "sun". Me neither, whatever. But he did make some good music back in the 70s and 80s.

I wonder if Jermaine has some kind of learning disability; every time he appears in an interview [[which seems to be any time they'll have him), he always appears to be struggling to keep up with the conversation ~ like he is having trouble understanding.

I was going to post this yesterday but I thought its too silly. I see someone else did it for me and I just wanted to say thank you. I thought he may have done this for publicity reasons. Jermaine is always up to something every couple of years.

Jermaine is also almost 60 years old and has lived the rock n roll life for well over 40 years. He's entitled.

Bayou.
What is really sad about Jermaine is that its not like he doesnt have a string of hits of his own that he could have toured with. Had he [[some years ago) marketed and packaged himself and did songs like Dynamite, Lets get Serious, Do What you Do, Daddys Home, etc
he would have proven himself to be a viable live act. He could have even done some of the songs he sang lead on with the J5 like I Will Find a Way and done a J5 melody. Jermaine is not talentless I mean if you were to ask people years ago they would have told you he had more talent than Janet. Janet can dance but [[and I know I may be in the minority for saying this) her NAME and productions got her to where she is today. That Jackson name and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis catapulted her to stardom. She has more talent than Latoya but Im not putting Janet down Im just trying to say that Jermaine has natural talent on a guitar and singing and he could have brought that to the forefront years ago and people wouldnt think of him as a media joke as much as they do now. Even at MJ's funeral he sounded wonderful when he sang SMILE. Its not too late for Jermaine.

Stephanie, once again you are right on all counts! Jermaine was one of the first black teen idols! He got there with some savvy marketing but also with a great deal of real talent!

This is a sensitive subject for me Marv because when I look at some of the groups that were out with the families. The Defranco Family, The Osmonds, The Cowsills, The Partridge Family [[although they are not real) the only groups I can think of where there were two stars of equal importance were Donny and Marie and that was them together. As part of the Osmonds Donny was the main attraction but remember [[was it Merill?) that had some of the other leads and played the second voice like Jermaine. I remember on TV when they were pairing Janet and Randy together with the Sonny and Cher skits but Im telling you that would have been the perfect time to get Jermaine out front when he came back to the group that is. I realize when he was staying at Motown he couldnt have done this with his brothers. Remember the duet he did with Pia Zadora that got tons of airplay. Jermaine could have had a wonderful careeer. It seemed like he had a hit here and there but it wasnt consistent. I mean Adult Contemporary ate Do what you Do up! You couldnt go into a restaurant, elevator, or radio station and not hear that record some time of the day.

Stephanie and Marv - you are both two of my favourite posters on this forum..but i have little respect for jermaine..Randall sullivan's new biography on MJ highlights Jermaine's dastardly deeds and schemes he orchestrated to his brothers death..MJ wouldnt be in the same room as him he was forever dreaming up pitiful scenarios that he hoped would give him a slice of Micheals income..over and over again..he was money hungry and put MJ in emabarrising buisness situations constantly telling finance developers/backers/promoters and the odd Arab billionare he had MJ's ear and could get him to sign any agreement..in reality Jermaine lost any standing with his brother after The Victory tour debacle..events like jermaine releasing "Word To the Badd" or demanding a higher fee on the day of the reunion at Madison just vindicated Micheals distrust in him...

Jermaine had some great records. Remember his duet with Whitney Houston. He can sing and sing very well. Why he did not continue moving forward, I can't remember. I do remember that he was very popular and had lots of talent.

I was in college when that record [["Let Me Tickle Your Fancy") came out. I bought it. I didn't care that he was capitalizing on the new wave sound. I remember seeing him perform the title cut on the Merv Griffin Show with two female backup dancers, one being Rebbie Jackson.

Nomis thanks and trust me. I've heard all about Jermaine's dealings involving Michael etc. This is why it always puzzled me why he did not have even greater success with his own career because we have to admit that he is talented and had his own sound.

well he had a clear shot at Billboard Number One with his duet with MJ..but then MJ and CBS spat the dummy and served Clive Davis and Arista with a "cease and desist" injunction against distribution and airplay of the song..so Micheal wasnt whiter than white [[pardon the pun) in his dealings with Jermaine either..

How refreshing to have someone here with the courage to even hint that Michael Jackson was no saint when it came to business. I don't know how true it was, but rumor had it that he prevented his brothers from recording on their own, essentially blackballing them from the industry. Anyone else hear this?

this was a pattern of behaviour MJ displayed at a corporate level when he felt threatened..he did the same thing to Terence trent d'arby informing Sony he wouldnt deliver his next album if the marketing clout and budget assigned to D'arby wasnt reduced..then he personally rang D'arby informing him "If you hear rumours Im trying to sabotage you in the boadroom it isnt true.."..when I worked in marketing for Virgin records and we signed Mariah Carey - Janet did exactly the same sort of thing ..the faxes were running hot from her management questioning every future budget and marketing allocation for Carey [[ we dropped Carey soon after due her mental instabilty in the wake of leaving Mottolla)..I will say this for MJ - when The Jacksons released "2300 Jackson St" - Micheal personally rang Walter pleading for strong promotion of the LP..he loved his brothers and he and Janet would plan both of their releases [[on different labels) so they wouldnt coincide -he was particulary upset that janets "rythmn Nation" only sold 6 million domestically he thought it was a work of genius..

Let me think? Uh, begging for attention? This creep is insane. When MJ was on trial in Santa Maria this jackass LIED to the press about the bullshit of MJ having a dislocated shoulder and went on "Larry King" being the fame WHORE that he is and when Larry questioned how MJ jump up on the SUV and danced "Jerm" spewed "It was a triumph over pain". What at load.

he really needs to stop doing interviews because he comes across alot more stupid than he is..if he was silent people would have alot more respect for him..at the time of MJs last trial he was shopping around a memoir to various publishers confirming Mjs abuse of boys..then he releases his book after Mjs death defending MJ to the hilt..this guy is one hell of a duplicous piece of work..thats what i mean when i say he isnt as stupid as he comes across as..no wonder he was banned from entering any of Mjs homes for years..the only time he saw Mj was on the annual jackson "family day"...

What happened to the casino I heard he owned? Does anyone know if he still has it? And who paid the 100k he owed in child support so he could get out of Africa and come back home a couple years ago? I don't understand why he hasn't got any money....
