Wasn't sure which forum to post this in, but I thought that Soulful Detroit would be better than Motown, since her records were o very different from what people usually equate with the "Motown Sound".

I was driving in my car today and this came on shuffle on my iPod.
It actually startled me. It had been a while since I had heard it.

For anyone who doesn't think that Gladys Knight is a "deep soul" singer, here is a shining example of why she is one of my top 10 female singers. This may be my favorite performance of hers.

Kudos to Clay McMurry

"Here I am" has been one of my favs from her album "If I Were Your Woman" in 1967 and got plenty of play from me back then, lol. Loved Gladys all thru the years, saw here live several times. In my top 5 list of female soul singers. :)

Gladys is my number 1 female soul singer. I don't know how anyone could think she doesn't sing deep soul. The lady is a class act on and off stage. I loved the BET awards where they honored her. She got up on that stage and showed the youngsters how it's done! Her voice is as great now as it ever was. She hasn't lost a thing. BRAVO to one of the greatest female singers of all time. I'll try to post the clip from youtube of the BET honors.
