Just some materials on the Motown Records Bldg. & the Graystone Ballroom that Berry Gordy had purchased during Motown's heyday.

Would love to hear if anyone had ever been to either or both places and/or any impressions you might have of them. Any info anyone might have would be very welcome, as well. Thank you.

My mom says those are really old photos of the Graystone's exterior and interior and that the building did not look like that in the 1960s. She remembers the Graystone, The Fox Theater and the Donovan Building all being on the same street, Woodward Avenue. She never went to the Graystone. She was a minor but recalls peering inside the building to see what was going on.
Part of the 20 Grand was near Buchanan which was a few miles from where my parents once lived with their respective families. They lived on 30th Street which crossed Buchanan. My dad says Buchanan ran into or crossed 21st, 12th and 14th Streets and snaked all the way into downtown Detroit.
My parents were too young to get into the 20 Grand but would pass it whenever they rode the bus downtown where they would get off on Woodward and walk north for several blocks towards the Detroit River and they would pass the Donovan Building, the Graystone and the Fox.

Ralph and Stubass remember the 20 Grand.
