Joe Ankrah [[the male backing singer for the Prestatyn Soul Weekenders) was in the Liverpool group the Chants back in the 1960's [[they were backed by the Beatles on a couple of early dates). In the 1970's, he left the group to perform with a new UK outfit, Ashanti.
In looking for info on his 70's group, I came across details on a soul group out of Warren, Michigan who used the same name.
This group comprised Johnny Jordan, Roland Hamilton, Jonathan Walker, Daryl Gooden & Jeff Swanagan. They had 1 x 45 release on Jabner in 1980 [[as far as I am aware) and the tracks that formed this were cut at Superlycs Studio in Warren.

Anyone here have details on this group & what became of them ??
I know Johnny Jordan played guitar & sax, wrote their songs plus arranged & produced their cuts; so he must have been quite a talented guy.
I guess as Warren is on the outskirts [[a suburb) of Detroit, the group could actually have been from the Motor City and I should think that they would have played a good number of gigs around the area in the late 70's / early 80's.
