Ok... this is bizarre. We have the countdown from October 1974 on TOTP, and it says "Diana Ross And The Supremes" are at #22 on the charts, and they flash a pic of Ross AND Jean, Mary, and Lynda together on the same screen. Exactly what song was in the charts at #22 in the UK at this time?

Diana Ross & Marvin Gaye's "My Mistake [[Was To Love You)" was released in the UK on 11 Oct 1974. However, "Where Did Our Love Go" by the Supremes was re-released there on 15 Nov 1974! So it was probably the first tune that TOTP was referring to with that weird photo.

But this episode was October 4... before either of those release dates. This is a confusing one.

Yep..sure is!

I remember noticing that error at the time. Shame on the BBC for making such a mistake.

BBC were always making bloopers, especially when it came to lesser known American artists. Remember the "Jackie Wilson Said" performance by Dexys Midnight Runners against a backdrop of Jockie Wilson, the british darts player. Terrible
