She was savvy enough to get out while she was a hot item on the market and in demand. In the long run Diana was a victim as well. That is not true. One of the complaints Arne Naess made public before he filed for divorce was Diane's excessive spending to the tune of $25,000 per month on clothing and upwards of $ 50,000 per month on private jets to name a few of her excesses. He got pissed and wanted her to reign it in.

Berry didn't screw Flo out of anything. She chose a shady lawyer, later disbarred, who realized a sucker when her saw one and got Flo to sign it all away for a lumpp sum, then he stole it. Get your facts together, girl. Flo was adised by Motown that she was being screwed. I hate to blame Motown for S.O.P. by the industry, but because many of us care for our artist's, we want them to be OK financially. I think, had DMF had outside counsel, their contracts would have read differently. I'm guessing that Miss Ross because aware that her income from working non-stop at top dollar and not being able to account for it portfolio wise, led her to sign the 20 mil deal with RCA. She ALSO signed a deal with EMI at the same time. These were signing bonuses - not like today - a guarantee against royalties - Miss Ross cashed her 20 mil plus check and a few months later, royalties for Why Do Fools, Mirror Mirror etc. It was platinum here in it;s first few months of release, and did even better iternationally. She made, I surmise, a lot more money in the 80's than in the 60's & 70's combined.
