Smart girls.

A reunited Destiny’s Child has recorded a new song for a forthcoming greatest hits compilation. “Nuclear” is the group’s first track since 2004 and features production by both Pharrell and Beyoncé. It will be included on Love Songs, which spotlights the group’s love songs [[duh), and arrives Jan. 29 on Legacy/Columbia records. Coupled with today's rumblings about a new Justin Timberlake record, it's clear the early’s '00s are back again. Break out the Ugg boots.

In related news, an underboob-flashing Beyoncé tells GQ that her new solo album could be out as early as April. Its first single is rumored to be a collaboration with Lady Gaga called “Ratchet,” and it could show up during Beyoncé’s Super Bowl halftime performance next month.

Well the new single has been released--see link to hear. It was co written by Michelle Williams. It’s OK, it will probably work on a ballad collection that this new DC compilation is supposed to be.
Beyonce will be performing with Kelly and Michelle as part of her Super Bowl halftime performance. Hopefully they won’t do a Motown 25 and start shoving and pushing each other or usurping the lead vocal.

I think the Supremes departed on better terms at the time.

But 50 years later, the other members of Destiny's Child have been able to build some kind of decent career and that was so hard for the other Supremes. And Kelly has moved into acting I believe. And she's actually had some big hits of her own.

But perhaps Kelly and Michelle are just more talented; maybe they've had better luck; maybe they've had better management; or maybe with the Internet, they've been able to publicize themselves much easier.

But you can't put out an album like Florence Ballard put out and expect that's going to sell. That was a very weak performance. And Mary waited too long ~ there was no life left in anything Supreme by 1977 when she left; they couldn't even chart anymore. So by the time she got out there, it was too late; there was no interest in her and the public really did assume that it was just Diana that mattered.

At least none of them have been arrested or thrown out of a public restaurant......

Beyoncé is everywhere as the most popular female singer of the day. She has her own documentary coming up and will sing the National Anthem at the Inauguration.

She also has a new album coming and here's what she had to say about it:

On the new album's influences: "Mostly R&B. I always have my Prince and rock/soul influences. There's a bit of D'Angelo, some 60s doo-wop. And Aretha and Diana Ross."

Usually when artists say they're aspiring for the greatness of legends, the knee-jerk reaction from critics is something like, "Oh, no she didn't!" But Bey' has the talent and the resources to say such things. She's got that Aretha soul [[plus a voice that can blow houses down), Diana's sultriness, Prince's raw sex appeal, and she's more than capable of drumming up some '60s-era harmonies with her vocals.
