Happy New Year to you ALL!! Well....we made it through another one....
But even though we are virtually done with ol' 2012....some after-tremors yet and still reverberate...
I'd like to revisit some of the great Universal/Motown/Hip-o releases of the past year....
If you think back through your champagne-haze and celebration-craze of last evening, you will remember
quite a lot of wonderful releases including The Supremes, Diana Ross, Earl Van Dyke, Mary Wells, The Miracles, Barry White, and I am going to grandfather in the Marvelettes for good measure!
And not only that...as you probably have read....we lost 2 significant ladies of soul....Marva Whitney and Fontella Bass...[[rip)...so a respectful tribute is in order for them.

Wow, a celebration of Harry, Andy, George, Kevin, and the rest of the Hipo Select gang. I can't think of a better way to kick off 2013! So many great things this past year. A cornucopia of Unreleased Jackson 5 tracks, those fabulous stereo mixes of the Mary Wells Looking Back material, the complete Copa and Roostertail Supremes shows, Marvin Gaye's Trouble Man finally getting the deluxe treatment, and Diana Ross doing Sly Stone were just a few pearls pulled from the vault. I'm sure there's even more great finds to come this year and I can't wait with Martha and Diana releases to come. I'm thankful for all the guys do and you, John, for bringing this great material to the airwaves! Have a great show!

Nonetheless, Harry Weinger has posted that four of the six Martha & the Vandellas tracks from 1962 Motown Girls will be on the Lost & Found disc of the MR&V Singles Collection, some in stereo, others in extended mixes.

Great show, as always, Johnny. Enjoying the selections across the board, especially the Marvelettes' pink album cuts and the Supremes Copa cuts.

Don't want to post a negative here, being it's a new year, but I recently lost my partner of 14 years on December 18. It's been a tough few weeks for me. Listening to music is somewhat healing but, depending on the song, are haunting during my time of grief. Our song was the Freda Payne cut, "Deeper and Deeper" after we met. Not particularly requesting it be played tonight, but in some later Nightflight in his memory, John Rowlands.
