Happy Birthday Heikki and Karl. It's also MY birthday today [[and also Howard Duff's). Most of you are way too young to know who Howard Duff was.

As I hope to visit Finland within the next few years, Heikki, maybe I should plan to visit during the last week of November, so we can celebrate our birthdays together, watch a Blues' hockey game, and I'll bring my Nordic skis, too [[I have spent more than 3,000 days of my life on Nordic skis).

Thanks Ralph. Yes, I know there are several other Golden Oldies on this forum, other than us. I bet you remember Ida Lupino, too.

Not only do I remember her, Robb, I also know she was a director and mogul in the movie business when it was basically a man's domain. She was quite the pioneer.

Happy Birthday to you all...

Robb....I remember Howard Duff, too.

Ida Lupino? Yes, of course, there's a name to remember too. Born here in UK,in London, and many people over here followed her career with great interest....

She was Howard Duff's wife. That's why I mentioned her.

Isn't it amazing that probably the only two SDF members whose favourite Finnish hockey team is The Espoo Blues, AND who also both have many issues of Aku Ankka, AND both have many rare Motown records, AND [[IF Heikki has a brother) both had a brother living in Finland,...... both were born on the same day of the year?

I know that our other Finnish members [[we must have a couple others) probably had brothers living in Finland, but they probably don't own any rare Motown records, and probably aren't Blues fans, and probably don't still have Aku Ankka issues.

Oh, I had forgotten that they were married. You must be a little older than me. Re: Hieki and you. I like hearing these kinds of stories that SD seems to have a had a hand in.

The Internet is an amazing tool to bring people of like interest together from the far reaches of The Earth. Good websites like SDF bring people together, who, otherwise, would never have found each other.

I met a fan of my favourite hockey team [[ST. Louis Blues) through a fan forum for that team. I live in a small village of 300 people in The Netherlands. This other fan, with whom I now watch hockey games on TV, coincidentally happens to live in the next village over. It's literally a 3 minute bike ride to his house [[across a few fields) counting leaving my house, parking and going into his [[less than half a kilometer). We were members of the same forum for 3 years before we found out we could probably hear each other if we yelled loud enough. If not for that forum, we'd probably have passed each other in the supermarket [[I find out that we both shop there), and rode bikes past each other scores of times, and probably never have met, and found out we share a common interest.

There are only six St. Louis Blues fans in The Netherlands that frequent that team's 3 main fan fora. So, perhaps there are maybe 10 fans in the whole country. And although it is a small nation, the fact that we live walking distance in a country whose 16 million people live mostly a lot farther away, is quite a coincidence.

Ha! Ha! Don't try to pass that one off on me, Ralph. You are a couple years older than me. I was born just after The War. You were a war baby, weren't you? And don't try to say you're younger because you're in your second childhood,-because I am, too!

I just remember they were married because they were in so many late '40s movies together, and they both hosted a TV drama series together in the early '50s. It was something like "Playhouse 90", except it was only an hour long. They had a lot of big guest actors, but they both also played parts in most of their shows.

Does anyone remember the name of their show? I don't think it was called "The Ida Lupino and Howard Duff Show". But, that does ring a bell. I don't think they had two shows on TV.

I was just messing with you, Rob. Yeah, I got you by a few years. Born in 1942.I can't help you with the question, but there is something very familiar about the show in question.

Hi Robb!

That was correct Finnish, very good!
Happy birthday, Robb... and Karl.
Actually there's a mistake somewhere, because mine is on NOVEMBER 28, next Wednesday, the same as with Mr. Berry Gordy.
Sorry, Robb, I don't have a brother and I've been on skis many, many years ago. Until when I was about twenty I was a whiz at skiing. Then came studies, girls and other things...
The Espoo Blues has unfortunately sank down to 8th in our league.
My Motown collection isn't that great, but I'll acquaint you with a guy here in the city of Lahti, who, I think, is the best specialist of that genre in Finland.

One other combining thing is the Netherlands. I visit that country often on business.

Hi Ceasar!

Thank you! Nice to hear from you.
As I wrote above, Facebook makes temporary mistakes sometimes. Then it's corrected after a few minutes. I still live according to my birth certificate, which says November 28 :-).

Best regards

Happy Birthday to Heikki, Dub and Robb...and I'm a BIG Howard Duff fan! Most of my heroes are old school actors...I have almost every Felony Squad episode on tape [[got 'em from another collector I met online) and I've seen any number of his other appearances. I believe the show in question was Mr. Adams and Eve [[the opening credits are on YouTube if you wish to see 'em again).

Best,

I follow Espoo Blues because of Jani Hakanpää being drafted by my favourite NHL team. I'm more interested in his development than in the win/loss record of the team.

Ha! Ha! About your Motown collection,-I must have mixed you up with the big Swedish Motown collector/scholar, Lars Nilsson. You are more of a Northern Soul and general Soul music collector, .....yes? That is because both of you come from the Baltic area, and both are major posters on Soul music forums I frequent [[SDF, Soul Source and RareSoul Forum).

Hi Robb!

So far Jani has five points, made two goals and has 30 penalty minutes!

You're correct, I'm more of a general soul man, but my biggest love in music is Deep soul and southern soul.

Best regards

Well, then, I WOULD hear a lot of new songs from your collection, as those are my weakest areas in '60s Soul.

No! This wasn't the TV series to which I referred. This was their SECOND TV series. Their first was a TV drama playhouse. with new characters and guest stars every week. Their first series ran in 1951-53. Mr. Adams and Eve was later. Their first series was "Four Star Playhouse". Ida Lupino was one of the "Four Stars" who owned and ran Four Star Productions, who produced it. She and Howard hosted 17 of that series' shows.

Happy Birthday to soulwally...Four Star Playhouse was hosted by the three founders of that company, Four Star Television: Dick Powell, David Niven and Charles Boyer, with Ida Lupino as a fourth to justify the show's title. Duff appeared quite often on the show, but I don't think he ever hosted it. I have a budget DVD of a TV series from the same producers, called The Star and the Story, in which a star appears in a script he or she picked...the episode I have has Duff in it, playing a cop conflicted about whether to arrest a doctor on a homicide charge, as the doctor saved his wife's life.

Perhaps an IMDB visit would clear things up?

Best,

Mark
