Just added it to my Amazon wish list... Looks really good. If anybody here buys it before me, would you please comment on the sound quality, please?

Thanks :)

Nothing here I need. I wish they would do this with some other albums like When I'm Alone I Cry, Stevie at the Beach and Doin' Mickey's Monkey, etc. I assume albums from 1961 have entered public domain in the UK?.Has anyone else noticed another comapny has reissued The Soulful Moods Of Marvin Gaye and Bye Bye Baby/I Don't Want To Take A Chance by Mary Wells with different artwork?

No I hadn't noticed until I looked it up. Interestingly the Marvin Gaye set has a release date of 22 Oct 2012 but has unfavourable reviews dating back to April 2012. There's no track details.

This is for Mary Wells. Again, no track details.

Kamasu..is there a complete list of the Japanese released Motown CD's that you mentioned on another thread?

I think the unfavourable reviews that you mentioned in your post are about this set right here:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Soulful-Moods-Marvin-Gaye/dp/B006GP3RKI/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1349631424&sr=1-1

Also, there's a Marvin Gaye: 5 Classic Albums set that was [[supposedly) released on the 2nd of October:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/5-Classic-Albums-Marvin-Gaye/dp/B00930LJ3U/ref=pd_sim_sbs_m_h__5

No info on which albums are part of it though. It lists Motown as its publisher, which I highly doubt is accurate information, as it would have been advertised on their website/facebook page.

The tracklist for Marvin Gaye "5 Classic Albums" can be found here

There are a number of these "5 Classic Albums" sets being released by Universal at the moment.

I didn't see one John. What I usually do is go to CDJapan and type in "Motown classic albums" or "Motown reissues" and see what comes up.

Thanks Kamasu....I'll try that. I saw that you noticed the Spinners and I wouldn't have thought of searching for that.

WHAT A FORMAT! Re-releasing / packaging classic Motowns together in one ultra-affordable package!

Got eyes on it myself, plannin' to buy! One can only dream of what's next with such a program, if it continues?

Maybe:

Tamla Motown 1962: Little Stevie Wonder - The Jazz Soul of Little Stevie, The Miracles - I'll Try Something New, Mary Wells - The One Who Really Loves You, Supremes - Meet The Supremes, Contours - Do You Love Me [[Now That I Can Dance), Miracles - Playboy, Eddie Holland - Eddie Holland

Tamla Motown 1963: Little Stevie Wonder - The 12 Year Old Genius, Martha & the Vandellas - Come & Get These Memories, Heat Wave, Miracles - The Fabulous Miracles, The Miracles Doin' Mickey's Monkey, Mary Wells - Two Lovers and Other Hits, Marvin Gaye - That Stubborn Kinda Fellow

Tamla Motown 1964 - Temptations - Meet The Temptations, Supremes - Where Did Our Love Go, Brenda Holloway - Every Little Bit Hurts, Mary Wells - Mary Wells Sings My Guy, Mary Wells & Marvin Gaye - Together, Marvin Gaye - How Sweet it Is To Be Loved By You, Martha & the Vandellas - Dance Party

And so on, so on....

The Twistin' Kings' album was actually titled: "Twistin' Around The World". "Playboy" was a Marvelettes' album [[rather than by The Miracles [[but I know that you knew that).

As I'm sure everyone is aware, these must be vinyl rips of material which is in now in the public domain in the EU.

The possibly interesting titles for me would have been those from the Twistin' Kings and The Great Gospel Stars. "Would have been" because I already bought those from Hallmark, as I expected that would be the only way I would ever hear them. If those titles ever get an official release from the master tapes, I'd buy them and my Hallmark cds would be headed for the landfill.

I do have the Little Richard set [["5 classic albums plus bonus singles") from this same label. [[I bought it because I was interested in hearing the two gospel LPs which, as far as I know, are not available on cd elsewhere. I already had the Specialty LPs from Ace and the Ace releases can't be beat.) The sound quality of the Little Richard set was ok for a vinyl rip. I would say better than the Hallmark titles I have, but that's a bit of an apples and oranges comparison, since I'm comparing different titles. Who knows how good the vinyl sources are for these. Still, if I didn't already have the Hallmark cds, I'd try this release instead of Hallmark for those two LPs. But now I'm keeping the Hallmark cds until these titles get an official release, if that ever happens.

Don't hold your breath for more in coming years - the copyright laws were changed from 50 to 70 years to keep the Beatles music from falling into public domain.
