Howdy, Motown fans! Tonight's special show is a tribute that's "Been A Long Time Happenin". The lady of tribute tonight is the late and totally irresistable Tammi Terrell, and that ever-so-slightly paraphrased title is the last solo studio recording of Tammi's, made only 6 weeks after her collapse while performing with Marvin Gaye at Virginia's
Hampden-Sydney College. It's been almost 2 years since I have done an indepth tribute to Tammi....and it's time.
You will hear Tammi's pre-Motown recordings, as well as her Hitsville material, solo and with Marvin...and a few Tammi remixes by yours truly. I will also air my 2003 interview with Tammi's sister, Ludie Montgomery, recorded before the release of her book "My Sister Tommie", written with Vickie Wright.

Ooo-wee. Right on the high heels of your remarkable Scherrie and Freda Payne show last week comes the irresistible Tammi. Her voice, like yours, John, is so wonderful--so enjoyable, really distinctive, full of personality, it just pulls you in and doesn't let go. Was Tammi singing about NIGHTFLIGHT on JUST TOO MUCH TO HOPE FOR? Certainly could be.

I have to add that my most favorite Tammi tracks from her Irresistible LP that I play most frequently are "Tears At The End Of A Love Affair" and "I Can't Stop Now [[Love Is Calling)". I never tire of these two recordings and believe they should have been featured as single releases during her solo career at Motown. They are so wonderful, super-tight productions IMHO.
