When someone says, "it's a small World".......you'd better believe it!
I met Berry Gordy's account from the Detroit days basically by accident while waiting for a meeting to start in Manhattan today. He also was the account for Janis Joplin, Peter, Paul & Mary, Paul Butterfield and whole host of classic Rock artists from the past.
It the short time I spent with him, he shared some pretty eye opening things! LOL! For one thing, Motown did NOT leave Detroit for LA for the well known reasons that we have all heard about.
There is a BIG reason why Berry did not give out certified Gold records to the artists and there are some things about the construction of the Hitsville building that is secretive. I am telling you, this guy [[has to be in his late 80's) could write a great book on the music industry and some of his icons from the 60's and 70's.
