The Free Press reported today in a brief story that entertainment attorney Henry Baskin will be donating rare albums by Motown artists to the Detroit Historical Society. There is a platinum record of Let's Get It On, a gold record of Eddie Kendricks Boogie Down, and original album covers from albums of David Ruffin and Rare Earth.

IMO, this raises the question, why were they not donated to the Motown Historical Museum? This is the logical place they belong. Visitors to Detroit will go to the Motown Museum to see the Motown archives, not to the Detroit Historical Society.

This raises another interesting agenda. Why not have the Detroit Historical Society become the Detroit Motown Historical Society and then greatly expand the Motown Museum as it rightfully should be?

What do other readers think about this matter?

It could be that the Motown Museum has many lp covers on display. The Detroit Historical
Society definitely needs to have something related to Motown Records on display.
