Supremes — Cream Of The Crop [[Japanese paper sleeve edition) . . . CD
Around August 29, 2012
Cream Of The Crop may not have been a huge hit for The Supremes, but the record has them handling a variety of interesting work – mostly done in modes that bring the best Motown styles of the 60s into closer contact with the label's more expansive sound to come in the 70s! There's a really ni ...

Supremes & Temptations — Diana Ross & The Supremes Join The Temptations [[Japanese paper sleeve edition) . . . CD
Around August 29, 2012
A record that might be easy to write this off as a mistake or inessential session – but thanks to some great arrangements by HB Barnum, Paul Riser, and Gene Page, plus great vocals by the groups, the record shines as much as any other Motown set from the time! The vocals are traded back and f ...

Supremes — I Hear A Symphony [[Japanese paper sleeve edition) . . . CD
Around August 29, 2012
One of the great mid 60s Supremes album – at a time when they could really do no wrong – and featuring a couple of their bigger hits! I Hear A Symphony was produced by the team of Holland & Dozier – and Holland-Dozier-Holland are the credited composers for most of it – p ...

Supremes — Let The Sunshine In [[Japanese paper sleeve edition) . . . CD
Around August 29, 2012
Groovy late 60s work from Diana Ross & The Supremes – a record that has them breaking the Motown mold a bit, and hooking up with a nice variety of modder soul and pop modes! Tracks on the set include a few Motown-penned numbers, but the trio also tackle hits like "Everyday People&quo ...

Supremes — Love Child [[Japanese paper sleeve edition) . . . CD
Around August 29, 2012
Really one of the nicer late 60s efforts by the Supremes – now with Cindy Birdsong in the group in place of the departed Florence Ballard – with the now well known title track, and a number of other great pop soul numbers, with the classic Motown sound! The Supremes could arguably nail ...

Supremes — More Hits By The Supremes [[Japanese paper sleeve edition) . . . CD
Around August 29, 2012
A killer from the early days of The Supremes – and way more than you'd guess from the "hits" in the title! The record's not really a roundup of the hit singles already out on 45 – and is actually just an apt title for what the album was destined to be – a stone hit that ...

Supremes — Reflections [[Japanese paper sleeve edition) . . . CD
Around August 29, 2012
One of the later Supremes albums with Diana Ross as the headliner – and the final Supremes album with Holland-Dozier-Holland pulling the strings – and led of by the incredible title track! "Reflections" is a straight up incredible tune – one of those late 60s Motown prod ...

Supremes — Supremes A Go Go [[Japanese paper sleeve edition) . . . CD
Around August 29, 2012
One of the biggest charting LPs by The Supremes – and one of the best, too! The girls are opening it up a bit here – getting in on some of The Miracles Go Go action of the period, and laying down tunes that have a bit more of a northern groove to them – relying a bit more on a mo ...

Supremes — Supremes Sing Holland Dozier Holland [[Japanese paper sleeve edition) . . . CD
Around August 29, 2012
One of the best ever albums by the Supremes – and stone classics, to boot! As the title states, Diana Ross, Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard team up with Holland Dozier Holland – and they really to create the sound that would put them and Motown on the map. A couple of the biggest hi ...

Supremes — Where Did Our Love Go [[Japanese paper sleeve edition) . . . CD
Around August 29, 2012
An early Supremes record – prime 60s Motown at its best – produced by the Holland-Dozier-Holland team, with a solid, unified feel that really pushed the Supremes

These are the SHM-CD editions with the paper sleeves/LP reproductions - you can also get them with a special Disk Union box:

These Japanese 24-bit remasters first came out quite a while ago and sound incredible and the mini-LP packaging is really charming.

It looks like the single SHM-CD releases are going for about $40 apiece on eBay [[search shm-cd + supremes):

What is "shm-cd" you ask?
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/popular_formats/SHM-CD/index.html
The high quality SHM-CD [[Super High Material CD) format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' research into LCD display manufacturing, SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc, allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head. SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players.

I have a few SHM-CDs and they do sound good but whether or not they're better than a normal CD is hard for me to say...

I highly doubt these discs sound better than the previous Japanese reissues. Isn't there only so much they can do with material recorded so long ago?

I have this Japanese mini-disc box set, looks and sounds great. Definitely recommended if you can get hold of a copy.

I've been trying to get my hands on the box set for a long time so I'm very happy it's being reissued with the SHM-CD format and I can grab it before it becomes too expensive/super rare...
