Since we have a sizable list of sad songs, why don't we flip the script and do some Happy songs. They can be for any genre and from any era, a guilty pleasure etc. Here are some to get started!

Rubber band Man- The Spinners
Uncle Jam, Knee Deep- Funkedelic
Crazy about the La La La- Smokey & The Miracles
Bad Luck- Harold Melvin & the Blue notes
Flashlight-Parliament
I Love Music- The O'jays
Give me some air-Shorty Long

These are just the tip of the iceberg here!

"Happy Face" by Con Funk Shun was aptly titled. I also love "One of Those Summers" by P-Funk All Stars, one of the best mood altering songs I ever heard.

"Pass the Dutchie" by Musical Youth, was a song that I found to be a happy song. Contrast it to the original "Pass the Kouchie" by The Mighty Diamonds, which is an entirely different vibe with almost the same lyrics and music.

Phyllis Hyman was of course primarily known for her gut-wrenching ballads and songs of lost love. So for that reason, I always thought her song choices of "You Sure Look Good to Me" and "You Know How to Love Me" were out of character for her. Great songs though, so I am not complaining. Just proved the girl could sing anything.
