Mr. Griffith is home with the Lord and his beloved Francis Bavier and Don Knotts from the Andy griffith Show. Andy Griffith was a great comedic actor and a very good serious actor. His acting in the movie A Face in the Crowd is beyond excellent.

"Rejoice and be exceeding glad, for great is your reward in Heaven"

"I am the door and through me if any man enters in, he shall be saved for eternity."

God be with you Mr. Griffith for he is good.

To me the best thing Andy Griffith ever did was early in his career when he played a country singer who becomes a dangerous right wing populist media figure in 1957’s A Face in the Crowd, a movie that’s still on target in many of its observation about this country.

I heard this news right after I finished watching my favorite show, Matlock. Apparently he'd been siclk all of last night and lost consciousness this morning. That was when the family called 911. I think they should have called earlier. Oh well, maybe it was just his time. He was a wonderful actor. May he rest in peace.

After we played Bettye's new single this eve, I asked my grands if they'd heard about Andy Griffith. They said no.....so I asked if they could do the song. My 14 year burst out with a dead-on interpretation of the Theme whistle. I was impressed.

Been discussing this at work most of the afternoon [[Hey, it's 4th of July Eve) with bunches of co-workers..... Seems like Everybody over 40 was touched by Andy.

Want to give a shout-out to a special amazing forum member for hitting me up with all the Andy Griffith trivia today......my peeps were very impressed.

I'm sorry to hear of his passing. He seemed like a good hearted man. The Andy Griffith Show was a pretty good show but I think he really shined in his movies.
I agree, A FACE IN THE CROWD was an excellent film. It will shown late tonight on TCM, on the 18th and again on Sep. Schedule is below.
And then there was the hilarious "NO TIME FOR SERGEANTS". He played a good natured clueless hillbilly drafted into the air force. Seems like that was the blueprint for Gomer Pyle. And Don Knotts even had a small role. And he did a couple of ABC Movie Of The Week.

Spike Lee based the premise of "Bamboozled" on "Face in the Crowd". I watched it because I am a fan of Lee's movie. People who want to believe that movies from the '50s and '60s didn't portray mature themes need to watch this film because it had enough for five movies and anyone who sees it never will think of Andy Griffith the same way again [[that's meant to be a positive note).

If you didn't know Spike Lee was Robert Osborne's guest last night. This was tape before Griffith's death. FITC was Lee's movie pick along with ON THE WATERFRONT & NIGHT OF THE HUNTER. I often don't agree with Lee viewpoint but his movie choices are on point. He'll be sitting in with Osborne every Thurs in July with his movie picks.

Andy Griffith [[http://www.latimes.com/topic/entertainment/television/andy-griffith-PECLB002107.topic) may no longer be with us, but his passing is providing an opportunity for cable TV to bring back some of his most beloved work.
TV Land plans to air marathons of "The Andy Andy Griffith Show" on Wednesday, July 4, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET/PT and on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET/PT. That's 46 of the 249 episodes of "The Andy Griffith Show."
Meanwhile, Me-TV plans to honor Griffith's less well known TV guest spots with episodes of"Hawaii Five-O," [[http://www.latimes.com/topic/entertainment/television/hawaii-five-0-%28tv-program%29-ENTTV00000770.topic)"Mod Squad," "Gomer Pyle" and the "Make Room For Daddy" ep that featured Griffith as a guest star. Incidentally, the episode of "Make Room For Daddy," titled "Danny Thomas Meets Andy Griffith" was the pilot of "The Andy Griffith Show." Those episodes air Wednesday starting at noon ET.
Slightly further out, Turner Classic Movies will air four of Griffith's most well-known film roles in Elia Kazan [[http://www.latimes.com/topic/entertainment/elia-kazan-PECLB002715.topic)'s "A Face in the Crowd," "No Time for Sergeants," "Hearts of the West" and "Onionhead" on July 18, starting at 8 p.m. ET.

I was struck by what a handsome man he was as a young man. I still love Matlock the best out of all his work, though..
