According to DFTMC, the first appearance of Marvin Gaye's "Lucky Lucky Me" is on THE VERY BEST OF MARVIN GAYE [[1994). I thought it first appeared on LOVE STARVED HEART: RARE AND UNRELEASED from the same year, but the former predates the latter by almost three months! Can anyone confirm this? Is the version on THE VERY BEST OF MARVIN GAYE in mono or in stereo [[considering that the song's all other appearances have been in mono clothing)?

Thanks in advance!

I don't have it, but I seem to recall that the version on 'The Very Best Of Marvin Gaye' was a different recording to the one on 'Love Starved Heart : Rare & Unreleased'.

[EDIT]

Just checked the sample from 'The Very Best Of ' [[http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000006YXV/ref=s9_simh_gw_p15_d2_g15_i2?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OL E&pf_rd_s=center-5&pf_rd_r=0X8M76X24TTMV4NVWS3G&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128293&pf_rd_i=468294) at Amazon, and it is indeed a different take.

Stereo as well, and sounds like a new mix from the multitrack.

Cheers

Paul

it was a uk tamla motown single release in 1994 after "the very best if cd,his 4th hit [[#67)after his death
i'd think the very best of is stereo.
the lucky lucky track has a remix credit to ray hayden, the only one that mentions remixing.

Thanks guys. It's on order. And cheap they were too, not even a pound for a copy.

That's interesting, Roger. What release is hosting the third version?

Thank you, Roger. I will try to track them all down. Have the respective versions on SOUL LEGENDS and GRANDES MITOS seen releases elsewhere - does for example one of them appear on THE VERY BEST OF MARVIN GAYE [[1994)?

Mr Postman I don`t own "TVBOMG 1994" as I assume it is the same as "All For You" with vocals."Soul Legends" is completely different with a mainly piano backing and a different vocal track. "Grandes Mitos" has a much earlier sound and completely different track and vocal.I`ve read that there are more I don`t think that they would interest me.

Fascinating, Roger. I may have to buy these two too, then. No vacation this summer either...

I'd be most interested to learn, should you come across information on more alternates!
