While going through a pile of my 45's yesterday, i came across a single by Florence Henderson which i had forgot all about, it was a cover of "A love like yours [[don't come knocking everday".
I would like to compile a list of as many cover versions of Martha's recordings as possible, so please could you let me know what has been recorded, actual studio recordings, not songs including in live performances.
Thanks in advance and hope there are some nice obscurities!

I was listening to some audio clips of Ike Turner while reading this thread, and what would happen to come on but his version of "A Love Like Yours." It's from his "Risin' with the Blues" album from 2006. This must be one the last albums he recorded.

And a rather "punky" version of "Heatwave" that caused a stir in certain circles in Britain around 1980 ..

My turn for a nudge...:)

Wasn't 'I'm A Winner' on 'Sugar N' Spice' album?

Although 'Ridin' High' and 'Sugar N' Spice' were indeed released on a UK 2fer in 2002....

I was watching the clock, wondering when you would show up to mention The Velvelettes...lol:)

Wasn't Martha's "I'm in Love [[And I Know It) recorded the following year after The Velvelettes... making hers a cover version of theirs? [[and, much as I love Martha, I think Cal nails it..)

Not sure about the recording dates for "[[We've Got) Honey Love"....

Yes, the Velvelettes recorded both of those songs first in 1966. Martha added her vocals to those tracks later.

Another song....

Cal also recorded "He Doesn't Love Her Any More" but it's only Martha's version that still exists. I am also aware that Martha recorded "I'm So Glad It's Twilight Time".

It must be frustrating. Like trying to find Marvin Gaye's original version of "Dancing In The Street." Sadly I think it was erased or Martha dubbed over his track...

Not only did Phil Spector produce his version of Martha's "A Love Like Yours [[Don't Come Knocking Every Day)" on Tina Turner for Philles in 1966, he also produced a duet version on Cher & Nilsson for Warner-Spector in 1974. He must have really loved Martha's version for him to produce it on not one but TWO of his artists! It really is one of Martha's prettiest.

There's a recording unearthed from the vaults in "Unreleased Motown 1968" in which Gladys Knight and the Pips do "Show Me the Way," and they do it really well. A great track which should have been released long ago.

It's always good to hear when you and I agree on music! For someone who loves Motown as much as I do, it always amazes me how much we differ when it gets down to specific songs we like and how seldom we agree on a particular piece of music. So thanks!

You're welcome, Kenny, and you're right! We both love Motown, yet we seldom agree on which songs we like. Doesn't make much sense, does it! By the same token, we both love Classical Vocal music [[Choral & Opera), yet you love those old Mono Opera recordings while I can't stand 'em. I've gotta have fresh, newer Stereo performances. We're so much alike yet so different. Go figure!
