We lost Hal Jackson yesterday. As far back as I can remember we always had Hal Jackson on the radio here in NYC. Truly is a great loss to the Black community. He gave us many many happy times on the radio. Mr. Jackson RIP

Hal Jackson has been a constant force in the history of Black Music. He is the force that has been constant in the development of the evolution of Black Urban music ,from providing access to new talent ,from Jazz to Doo-Wop to Soul to Funk to Disco. For over 50 years this man has had his hand on the pulse of Urban music and provided the means of it becoming an art form and not being confined to just being "Race Music' ,both in business and communication. He is responsible for bringing this music to F.M. bandwith , the most important event that contributed to the growth of the genre , in the late 60's and early 70's. He took over the lead from the likes of Eddie O'J ,and advanced further. R.I.P Papa Jackson.
