Blueskies,

First Love first came to my attention back when I was DJing at a skating rink in 1980. The song was named "Don't Say Goodnight" & the times changing as they were, it still had a trace of Disco to it. Donald Burnside [[producer of Gene Chander, Captain Sky, Superior Movement & Yvonne Gage) was their producer.

These young ladies were Denise Austin, Demetrice Henrae, Lisa Hudson & Martha Jackson from Chicago & after that 1st song, I didn't hear anything from them again until 1982 when they came out with the funky "It's A Mystery To Me", a favorite of my skating crowd in 1982. They must've had a thing about even-numbered years because again, I heard nothing from them until 1984, when they came out with the great ballad "Things Are Not The Same". The only way that I can describe it is that the vocal sounds like a cross between Patrice Rushen & Deniece Williams.

The scan that you posted is that of their 1982 LP & it features their 2nd single "Party Lights", ''It's A Mystery To Me" & the flip "My First Love" & their next single "Don't Give Up [[On Our Love)" & the flip "The Love I Had".

I always thought that these young ladies should've gone much farther than they did & I'm not quite sure why they didn't.

Thank you Juice. Wonder where they're out these days?
