MAYDAY! MAYDAY!!!

Howdy there, Folks! Tonight, on "Nightflight", I'd like to take us all back to one of the pivotal years [[what year WASN'T) for Motown....1965! Keep in mind...these are tracks not necessarily recorded in, but all were released in 1965...."A" and "B" sides. I'll get in as many of these great tracks as 3 hours will allow and, of course....your requests are always appreciated! All this and more...tonight...on "Nightflight"...on WOMR 92.1 FM Provincetown and WFMR 91.3 FM Orleans and streaming live worldwide in digital stereo at www.womr.org [[http://www.womr.org)
Thanks!
John

Happy "May Day" to you John. May 1st is traditionally regarded as the day workers are valued for their labor. Your labor of love promoting R&B music, and Tamla/Motown artists is particular, on your fabulous radio program, "Nightflight" as well your fabled remixes, has made me very happy and proud to be counted as one of your supporters!

1965 was a great year for Motown. I was 14. Looking forward to the trip down Memory Lane, John. Would love to hear your classic remix of "Back In My Arms Again" of course - one of your many absolute best projects. And your wonderful extended remix of the extended remix of "Nothing But Heartaches" from "More Hits Expanded". See you on the radio my friend.

Guys, until you've been a lawyer for about 20 years, you don't really know how many worms are in a can.

I can't listen tonight cuz I am apparently still working.........but for Stop!, I think you need to play an alternate to the single........so one with Mary and Flo..........the one that got done before Diane had Berry personally blot out any Supremes on the single and install Ms. Louvain, Ms. Jackie and Ms. Marlene as THE Supremes.

Thanks John for Martha..... Does anyone know if Martha got more money from Motown and concert bookers for the name change in 1967? Supposedly that was the reason we got DRATS after all, two acts mean more money....

This Lewis Sisters song is, IMHO, worse than the Tony Martin Ask Any Guy. Prior to this I've liked everything I've heard by them including an rather boring CD called something like Way Out.

If Eddie Kendricks was willing to sing background for the Lewis Sisters, then they can't be THAt bad. Ironic isn't it.... many considered the sisters an oddity [[the singing schoolteachers, after all) and here they are singing 'Oddball'

Johnny -

Thanks for playing two of my suggested selections. 1965 was the year that my interest got glued to Motown and I have been passionate about it ever since. A super year indeed!

Hi John. Long time, no hear! Hope all's well with you. I heard you mention the Frank Wilson song "Do I Love You". I heard from friends in the UK that a 45 of that song sold in the UK several years ago in the $25,000-30,000 range. I'm told there are less that 6 copies of that song. Do you know anything about this?

Best,

John - just watched the video about the Frank Wilson song on YouTube [[link below) and the owner of one of the 45s says there are only 2 copies. I'm told that there are up to 4 more copies. These were supposedly stolen from the Motown vault.
