Celebrate National Record Store Day on April, 21, 2012 by dropping by at your local independent record store and checking out some vintage or new vinyl records4778. As Berry Gordy proudly proclaimed, "It's What's In The Grooves That Counts!"

I was in Spillers Records last Saturday, but the lady there couldn't confirm that I would be sure to get any of the Ace Soul releases due out today ... unless I turned up early & was one of the lucky first ones to ask for a particular release.
Couldn't be in Cardiff today but managed to span up a copy of the Clarence Cater EP in a specialist shop in Swanage [[Dorset). So, not 100% happy [[they didn't have any copies of the other 7" I was after) but at least a got a copy of one of the special releases only available from specialist shops today.

I'm under the weather with a bad cold, so I really couldn't make any record stores on that day...I did go out for other things that were important, but not for Record Store Day.

Best,

Mark

I stopped by The Record Exchange in Boise, Idaho, a huge and awesome indie store. It was packed, a lot of people buying vinyl, too. I bought some vinyl myself, Cameo's "She's Strange" album, which I've been wanting to get for awhile, mostly because of the title track and the hard-to-find-on-CD "Hangin' Downtown." A nice purchase for $4.99, in great shape.

No indie record shops left in central Oxford these days, we just have a HMV.
I was in the city centre today, so I called in HMV ...
asked "did you stock any of the special Record Store Day releases" ....
female assistant replied ... NO, there's no demand for them here !!!
I'm sure HMV used to be a record shop ???!!??
