Today would have been Marvin Gaye's 73rd birthday. I'd like to take this time to remember him and his birthday. Happy Birthday Marvin!

From being Motown's crown prince in the sixties, to reinventing the sound, mood, the message, of R&B into the seventies. Happy Birthday.

IMO, nobody has come close to MPG's abilities during the intervening years since his death - greatly missed but never out of earshot!

This date April 2, represents alot of Marvin Gaye history. He was born on this date in 1939. 30 years later on this date, his recording of "I heard it Through the Grapevine" topped the charts in Britain while is the US his next no. 1 records "Too Busy Thinking About My Baby" was released.

i loved me some Marvin especially in the heyday of Motown "Hitch Hike" Stubborn Kind of Fella
Pride & Joy, Wonderful One, and Witness. You and your special presence are missed everyday.
You are the prince of soul always.

Oh he was TOTALLY BAD! He was a beast! LOL! You see, he knew exactly what he was doing. Just like Levi, David, Wilson Picket and Sinatra, you didn't need to tell Marvin how to sing a song. He KNEW and made his listeners know it!

Fran, "Pride and Joy" is one of my all time favories by Marvin. Heard it as a little kid and have loved it every since!
