Thank you John, for this wonderful opportunity to offer tribute to one of the truly great voices of our time, Miss Etta James. I have a great passion for “Peaches” and her music; she has been part of my musical landscape from day one. Etta is among the foremost artists in the soundtrack of my life for which I have been most grateful. Her recorded output spans 1955 to 2011 and for tonight’s program I have tried to touch on all the many different musical adventures that the versatile Etta undertook during her lengthy career. Etta was one of a kind. She was a hard living, hard losing survivor who did it her way. The vast musical legacy she has left us is a testament to her often troubled life and her always amazing talent. I miss her greatly. Rest in peace, Etta.
I hope you will all join us tonight to celebrate Etta’s life and to listen to some great Etta James tunes. Tell mama all about it!

Sorry Ross, my portion of the program is pre-recorded and I did not include that particular track. "Mystery Lady" is represented by two other cuts I hope you will enjoy. It's a great album that brought Etta her first Grammy Award, in 1994. Better late then never! She wound up with six Grammy's, including 2003's Lifetime Achievement award.

I was lucky enough to see Etta perform in Denver in 2003. Would be great if you'd play Etta's amazing version of 'Take It To The Limit'.

Sorry Copley "Take It To The Limit" didn't make the final cut. There were so many songs I wanted to include but I filled my alotted space really fast, and had to leave off a lot of personal faves like "Take It To The Limit". Great version. Thank you for your kindness and support.:)

I had the great pleasure of seeing Etta live in concert 5 or 6 times over the years. In 1989 I managed to get back stage after a show she did here in San Diego and got to see her for a brief moment. Just long enough to tell her I was fan and get this autograph. She was most gracious.

PS: John I know I told you it more like 10 times, but when I got to thinking about it I realized some of those different memories were from the same concerts. Hey, I'm old, I can't remember everything.:)

I didn't know how to scan the entire album cover.
