I just read his book. The funny thing is that for quite a stretch in his career, no matter how many hits he produced, record companies almost never wanted to release the records he made--and most of them became the biggest hits of the artist's careers. From Duran Duran to Diana Ross, Nile got nothing but crap about his work, pre-release. Of course after the records were monster hits, he was a hero, but by that time he was usually ready to move on. First he was too disco, then too stylish, then too black, then too rock to produce black music anymore. Even Sister Sledge turned on him, even though he single-handedly made their career. It was crazy. I met Nile back in the early 90's--he was very nice.
