Right now, I am finishing up my first listen to the Margie Joseph "Original Albums Series" put out by Atlantic. As I just posted in another thread, I got an amazing price deal on this set, but it would be a bargain at almost any price.
Releasing these albums together in one package not only saves the consumer money, but it helps illustrate how the artist progressed and matured with each release. In this case, I especially enjoyed the "Hear the Words, Feel the Feeling" album.
I hope other labels will consider picking up on this concept and releasing all those classic 60s, 70s, and 80s albums that have not yet made it on to CD in packages of this nature. Just a twofer can sometimes be exciting enough, but releasing three or more albums at one time is amazing, and it doesn't cost the labels as much to mass-produce these, since there is no new recording involved and the packaging can be kept simple.
