Can someone tell us whose idea was it to have Florence Ballard standing in the middle during the singing of the Andrew Sisters hits, in March of 1966, when they appeared on tv, she sounds as if she is singing lead and probably is on these tunes, can someone enlighten us on this.

That's a good question, and she is singing lead for the most part... with Diana having a few lines here and there. I've always wondered how that occured, it was a welcome change.

I wonder if Flo's in the middle because of her height/for visual purposes - the two groups have a similar shape that way. Regardless, it sure is a charming performance all around:

The Supremes harmony is outstanding. It is so refreshing to see them as a group, rather than a lead and background.
The Supremes did an outstanding job on the Andrews Sisters songs. Can't say the same for the Andrews on the Supremes' songs.

The Supremes are always credited as being the best selling female group of all time. The Andrews Sisters sold between 75 and 100 million records over a long span of time. Did the Supremes do as well?

Patti Andrews is still alive and is in her 90's.
