I may be way behind some of you really knowledgeable people on here with this, but I have just made a new [[for me) Johnnie Taylor discovery from his Malaco period.

It's a bit more lightweight than some of his great funky Stax tracks, but play this twice and I defy you not to be singing the chorus to yourself for the rest of the day.
JT, you had so much SOUL, we miss you.

I'm tired of you people turning me on to all of this music. Now I'm in a "Johnnie" mood. LOL!

Keith, Thanks for the post on JT!. Sadly he passed over, but fortunately there are still some guys out there keeping his style alive and fresh. Sir Charles Jones is one of them. What do you think?

There's also his son, T.J. Hooker Taylor...I have him on Facebook. Seems like he's doing his part to keep Johnnie's legacy alive.
Best,
Mark

Johnnie Taylor, all time favorite of mine and most of my family. Never made a bad record in my opinion.

I've just been revisiting the first Stax/Volt singles box over the past few days at work [[nice that we get to listen to CD's, radios, etc.), and I couldn't help but notice how bluesy Johnnie's earliest Stax stuff was...great stuff indeed!
Best,
Mark
