Thanks to youtube, one can often find some very rare gems & I've found a few, such as this one from a group whom I've never heard of before named Spaghetti Head. This 1975 joint is funky as hell!!! How did I possibly miss this one?!?!

For some reason, this reminds me a lot of Shaft. The Dynamic Soul Machine & Moving On from 1975.

Horns were big in 1974/75 & here's another one. Funkhouse Express & Music Makes You Move from 1974...

I understand not hearing this one back in 1974 because it's from Belgium. Kandahar & Down At The Finckle's

The Propositions & Africana from 1973

Stoneground with Chica Boom from 1976

The Perfect Circle & For Your Funkification from 1977

Here are some that I was familiar with, but I believe that they deserved more notice...

From 1976, likely my favorite musical year ever, comes Wood, Brass & Steel with Funkanova. This jam was something else & the arrangement on the break, make that the second half of the song is ridiculous & I love those keys!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoQKfDc3k6g&feature=related

One of the most underrated efforts of K.C. & the boys, Do You Wanna Go Party from 1979. I only wish that it was the long version...
http://www.viddler.com/explore/MusicMike/videos/11/---Disco

And K.C. & the boys doing a pretty damn good impersonation of The J.B.'s on Black Water Gold from 1977...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HX8DcvFXzsY

It's alright to survive, but for my money, THIS should've been the hit! Gloria Gaynor & Anybody Wanna Party from 1979 & you ain't jammin' unless you're playing the 12" version!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGiQRftYzOI

Here's one from The Godfather's camp. Not as The J.B.'s but released as The Believers. Hustlin' from 1975...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evam5CDj9ak&feature=related

Early Con Funk Shun...
Klique - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxPsLji3E74&feature=related

And one that I used to pump constantly at the rink [[along with the spectacular ballad Straight From The Heart), one of my favorites, I'll Get You Back from 1981
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVM3lJIIo54&feature=related

This is a personal one because one of the members of this group, Mario Ford was the brother of one of my high school classmates named Al. Here's Mastermind with Mastermind from 1977. Obviously youllpickup on the Brass Construction styled group vocals. Though I have the LP, it sure took a long time for this one to find its way onto youtube...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9nFv1LFm5U&feature=related

Then there was Disco Party In The Street...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJcU8XMOe1E

A Casey-Finch production, Magic City & Let's Rock From 1979
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlXI17ReFzk&feature=related

From 1977, S.S.O. & Right Here Right Now
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAhx5rrX52U&feature=related

From 1977, Sine with Chimi & notice the drum pattern which sounds very much like that of Atmosphere Strutt. Another Patrick Adams joint...

Whether this was popular or not back in 1976, this song just doesn't seem to get played very often, referenced very often, nor receives the respect which I feel that it deserves. That's a shame because this record is a stone groove! I remember that there was a 12'' of this, which no one seems to have these days. Perhaps it was a promo but I know that I saw one back then & I believe that it was a two-sided 12''.

The Rimshots & one of my very favorites from the bicentennial year, Super Disco

Edit: I just ran across a reworking of this song & I have to say that I appreciate the fact that the remixer didn't step all over the original version. Not a bad job at all...

Here's another from the summer of that special bicentennial year of 1976. This song was one that we used to play & hear on the radio quite frequently back then. And for a few reasons, this song brings back a lot of really sweet memories for me & is simply one of my favorites of that year. I cant quite place why it was, but 1976 was a very special year to me & along with 1970, is a year that is kinda like a watershed year for me. It wasn't just one thing, but rather everything about that year & that was one hell of a summer, just a lot of fun. This song has always been one of my favorites & no matter what, this is a song that will live in my heart forever. 1976 was just one of those years.

Dang, Juice...I was in Korea 1975-76 and it just occurred to me I missed a whole mess of funky stuff during that time.
We got bootleg not-quite-vinyl disc of the high profile acts like EWF, Ohio Players, Curtis Mayfield, etc...but no Spaghetti
Head or Funkhouse Express ever made it to the DMZ...sheet!....

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be listening to or looking at with that link Tamla617 .. However I do have "Night people" on vinyl .. it got released in Britain on the "All Platinum Gold" LP that phonogram issued in 1976 .. All Platinum 9299 767 .. side 1 last track.

I've done a bit of googling but all I have found is the US version of the LP which had a similar cover but a different track listing.

Still doesn't work for me .. but I've gone one better and listened to my vinyl copy :)

I used to have that All Platinum sampler too .. 99p it cost as I recall. The "All Platinum Gold" set was full price and came out about a year later. All Platinum was a bit of an obsession of mine at the time.

Did you know there was a vocal that seems to use the same backing track as "Sweet Sweet Tootie" by LONNIE YOUNGBLOOD .. here it is ..

WILLIE AND WEST - "Attica Massacre"
