This is sad news to me. WGPR is one of the few stations that you could turn on and hear a rare classic album cut, or artists like Rahsaan Patterson or Eric Roberson [[who barely receive airplay). This station made their own rules and did not follow the format of playing the same 5 songs everyday. I am glad to see that Detroit will have a fm gospel station but this news still blows. Possibly they were given an offer that they could not refuse in this bad economy but wow. http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/98001/radio-one-detroit-closes-lma-to-operate-wgpr-moves

"Where God's Presence Radiates"! [[W.G.P.R.)! It was a mainstay in Detroit. It was unique, it was where we heard "sounds" we couldn't anywhere else or at least many times, for the first time WGPR would be playing it. It's where most of Detroit heard music by people like The Time! "Electrifying Mojo"........where are you?!
