Hi gang,i got a good one for ya...the great cab callaway once fired a young man from his band,the young man went on to become a jazz legend in his own right,who was he and why was he fired?

During an onstage disruption Calloway was hit with spitballs. He accused Dizzy Gillespie of being the culprit. This was not true. But, Gillespie stabbed Calloway in the leg. Calloway fired him.
