That was a great interview with Barney. Another true unsung hero of Motown Records. I was surprised a bit by how candid he was.

Thanks Tamla!

Thanks for posting this. A whole different angle on the Motown era. Never really got a handle on Barney before. Seems like a great guy, as well as being one shrewd cookie.

This is great. I always found Barney to be a real mystery and this really shines a light on him. Clearly a very shrewd and no-nonsense businessman.

re: your thread Berry Gordy vs Barney Ales....

You may already be aware of this thread but, if not, the four-part interview with Barney Ales is currently on page 18 of the link to bluepower.com....

There's also an interview with Harry Balk on page 3.....plus many others.....

Thanks, Mr. Grand

I have four parts and I listen to them occasionally. Because I don't think that he is going to write a book!!!!LOL!!

I always like listening to Barney talk. His voice always reminded me of a really tough character actor in a film. LOL!

Soulwally....

I've just tried it several times and I agree with you. The link does not connect.

It was working fine when I bumped this thread three days ago......so hopefully it is a temporary connectivity issue.

Worth trying again tomorrow?

Did anyone who saw the interview take the effort to print it out and if so, would you be able to scan into a thread the contents of the interview?

I have been trying for several days to access this WITH NO SUCCESS.

Thanks if you can help out.
