I think Paul Kelly deserves his own thread, given his superb recordings, compositions and productions.

Here is a comprehensive interview with Paul, and a complete discography including his compositions performed by Jackie Moore, Annette Snell and The Staples Singers....

Paul was ever-present as a live performer on the Miami club scene in the 60's. He would appear on shows with lots of local acts, Helene Smith being one of these.
Here's a big CORE fundraising concert he participated on, the show taking place on 17th June 1966 at the Continental Club in Overtown where Paul was born & raised .........

This show mainly featured locally based acts [[the Bell Brothers, Dreamettes, Dizzy Jones, Ella Washington, Del Miras, etc) but also out-of-town acts down to play local gigs that week [[the Sharpees).

To see numerous other similar Miami area club & radio ads, check out the 'Motortowners in Miami' thread.

Wayne Cochran was also a Florida based entertainer. Notice the "Pearl Box Revue"--I believe this was a performance
by drag queens.
I have no clue where Ella Washington is today, but she was a great singer. Her younger sister also sang, Audrey
Royal.

Wow, I have seen him, but I am not sure. I think maybe the one on the far right.

I remember him being kind of short and very thin.

I think he wrote one of my fave Ella Washington records "The Grass Is Always Greener"my 45 is so scratchy, on the Octavia label.Atlantic picked it up after it made big noise in Florida.Seems like the above group would have had trouble with that name in the early 60's, Iwonder if they did "Greetings This Is Uncle Sam" in their act. Paul Kellys biggest hit as a singer was "Stealing In The Name of The Lord" wasn't it?

Looks like I was right as the man in the trade ad looks the same as the man on the right in the group photo.

I remember as a teenager in the UK buying an import of his single "Stealing In The Name Of The Lord" and just loving it.
Then we started to infiltrate clubs we were too young to legally go to, where his Dial 45 [[Atlantic in the UK) "Chills And Fever" was an early Rare Soul/Norhern Soul anthem.

Don't Burn Me Paul Kelly

Don't Burn Me Staples Singers

Personally Paul Kelly

Personally Z Z Hill

I tried Youtube, but realised I have to convert the file from MP3 to a video format. I have therefore used podomatic which enables MP3 upload, play and download. The recording will play at 128k......I will attempt to do better and repost.

[[Sorry for the minimal posts...I tried uploading about 20 tracks by Paul, Annette Snell, Staples Singers etc but failed to master the technology!) After a couple of hours messing about trying to figure out what's going wrong, I'm taking a rest because it's going to make me bad tempered!)
