I was going to go last five, but I couldn't remember, ha! Memory fading ...

OK, my last three with comments:

Fitz and the Tantrums: Bought it yesterday, really like this group, have heard their hit "Moneygrabber" on the radio for some time and other songs on YouTube. A few clunkers on this 10-song CD, but overall really, really good. Kind of a Hall & Oates sound, or so say my friends, who all compared him to H & O.

Five Stairsteps: "First Family of Soul: Greatest Hits." I had none of their stuff, just familiar with "Ooh, Ooh, Child" which is a sad state of affairs for me. Excellent group, quality singing. A few too many ballads on this very long CD, many of the ballads sound similar. However, they pull it off. Excellent group, of course.

Rafael Saadiq: "Stone Rollin'". Took me a little while to get into this one, but now I love it. I still prefer his previous album, "The Way I See It" better, but this is worth a purchase. He tries a lot of different styles, which I like.

Your last three purchases?

Let Yourself Go by the Supremes and probably Meet the Supremes and the Marvelettes Expanded Edition.

Otis Clay: When the Gates Swing Open [Hard Gospel]
Smokey Robinson: Stripped Mixes [Only because no CD was available]

I'm not fond of that format. Vinyl rules and then CDs.

I must say those are some nice choices, but these four simply blew me away. They're all great Cd's. No further review or commentary could ever do them justice. I have been listening to them this afternoon. I haven't been this satisfied musically in a long time. My money was well spent.

Rob, you need to listen to more than the damned Supremes.
You are stuck in the Sixties & Seventies. LOL

But my last 3 purchases were old titles too: So I'm kind of stuck in a time warp too.

The Best Of Maxwell [[Import)
Let's Hear It for the Boy _ Deniece Williams---produced by George Duke
Evidence _ Candi Staton

I also bought Sam Cooke: The RCA Albums Collection, which is hard to find.

Tom Browne - "Love Approach" [[CD reissue on bbr)
While it's nice to have the album on CD, it's hyper-compressed, and the bass is very heavy. This is a trend with the bbr reissues, and I will no longer buy them as a result.

Minnie Ripperton "Perfect Angel"/"Adventures In Paeadise" [[Stateside 2-fer reissue CD)
I'm quite happy with this. It's not compressed. A nice, no-nonsense mastering.

Now That's what I Call Music! #38
Yeah, so what? I like today's top 40 dance/pop music. So there!

I buy CD's on most days that end in day at charity shops & car boot sales etc. & by virtually anyone who has recorded at least one song I like, however, the CD's I pay full price for are the ones I consider to be in my main collection & they are:

The Complete Curtis Mayfield Years - Five Stairsteps

Dave Hamilton's Detroit Soul - Various Artists

Bandera Doo Wop - Various Artists

Ledisi will be around for a while. I'm sure you missed a great show. I've met her several times over the years and she is very forthright but humble. She actually sold her first cd's out of her car. Her gimmick has always been herself. In her early days she would perform barefoot, hair up or down because she only came to sing and sing she does.

I've downloaded 3 singles recently: "Side" and "Sing" by early 00's alternate group Travis and "Reptile" by 80's alt pop/rock group The Church. Most recent CD purchase: Supremes Let Yourself Go box set.

Paladin has great taste, just listening to Slique [[whom I hadn't heard before) on YouTube, very nice. The tune is "Your Body" very good, kind of Marvin-esque. Excellent.

Listening to the new Eric Benet tracks on YouTube, looks like I haven't appreciated Eric enough. Some very good tunes, will have to get this album. The song currently playing, "Always a Reason" is straight out of Thom Bell/Stylistics. Impressive.

Always feel free anyone to post new CD's on this board, I love it and it exposes me to new music.
