i think the live version is a nice representation of the original. Diana always is amazing on a song with a strong storyline. one with lyrics that are compelling

this song was played very often on WABC in NY...so was Everybody's Got The Right to Love...I was very surprised in the internet age to see neither one was a top 10 record.

The song is sweet and affecting, but agree with Motown in that it doesn’t work particularly well in a live setting.
