I was surprised about that. Connections has a nasty habit of putting words that can be used together in a separate context. For example, I'm sure they're aware that Match, Tinder and Grindr are all dating apps. Their inclusion in today's puzzle made me consider that as the possible connection for a while. That accounted for the two misses that started my guesses. They always have words that send me down the wrong rabbit hole. I actually appreciate it for being the most difficult of these puzzles.

I enjoy your comments and vague references. I used to write down the solves and refer to them the next day while reading your comments. They give me a chuckle. I got out of the habit of jotting them down. Now I have to try to look up the solutions online the next day. I have restarted taking notes.
btw you solve Keyword pretty quickly each day!
I "jot down" the solutions in an email to myself.
That is my notepad. I look at them before reading
Jerry's quips. I also compare our connections results
to see the order in which you each solved the four
colors. Sometimes they match mine. I am catching
on to their playing with the word itself, rather than its
meaning. I often have to look up the definition of a
given word to see if there is another meaning.

I am going to do the same using email. Thanks for the suggestion.
I also like to see the order in which we each solve Connections. It's challenging enough to think of more than one meaning for a word. But they often use it as a root word and we then have to imagine a prefix or suffix for some esoteric category.

Uggghhh... At least John pulled it off. A lot of the times when I miss solving Connections, I have one of the ungrouped categories figured out but there's a word that doesn't seem to fit. Usually, it's a slang word that doesn't otherwise fit within context of the group. There were a couple of those today. I appreciate the difficulty of solving it, though.

Wow, John. Yeah, 14 minutes is long but you only used 7 guesses. If I had my druthers, I'd rather solve it in a long time than do like I typically do - take a bunch of guesses, use 5 or 6 guesses on one word and solve it quickly. It's both the easiest and most frustrating of these games for me. Well, most frustrating after Connections.

I can't remember the word, but it was something like "pain" that I used just to put some unused letters into my response. Of course, I never figured that "The birds and the" would be the first four words or I would have solved it. I had my biggest "DUH!!" moment since this thread started.
BTW: I really don't like the word that Wordle used today. Like you, I got the wrong three letters first and there was almost an infinite number of possibilities that made solving it impossible. I feel like they threw this word out on purpose to put the bum's rush on folks who have been solving their puzzle consistently for the past couple of months.
