Grape has turned me on to this lady......maybe 40 years too late but I got there in the end.

Does anyone know if this lady has her Chess releases on CD or is it a case of buying a load of compilations.

Her vinyl album looks good too

I haven't heard of a CD of her Chess LP, nor of an anthology of her work. I'm afraid that you might have to piece together her songs one or two at a time from lots of different multi-artist compilation CDs. But, I'm not the best reference for what CDs exist. This answer is just based on my recent searches on Google to try to find what CDs, downloadable songs and references exist on The Internet. There may be a Northern Soul or general Soul bootleg CD [[or two) that exists that doesn't pop up easily on a routine search.

Thanks Robb-K

I did some searching myself and that was my conclusion too.

I posted here as there are lots of folk here who know about the more esoteric releases and they are also [[no doubt) better at the internet than me. Your advice confirms my own findings and I thank you for that.

If you find one let me know, I've done a search of my memory [these days laughingly known as my windows media player library] & could only come up with "Whole New Plan" "Stay By My Side" & a cover of the Heartbeats "A Thousand Miles Away".

"One Woman" on Duo was quite good. Lots of Northern Soulies think Duo was a Detroit label because of Mike Terry and the "sound". But Duo and its artists, Sheryl swope, The Profiles, Jo Ann Garrett, etc. were from Chicago. But, The Profiles' and Sheryl Swope's cuts do sound "Detroitish".

Found another 3 titles "Foolish Me" " Can You Deal With It" & "[Charlie Brother] We've Got To Love One Another" by Jo Ann Garrett & The Rock, I've also correct her name so they all come up together in the search.

I been playing that A Thousand Miles Away" tune. Fabulous. It refers to Del Warren...is the Dale Warren?

A beautiful voice and the sound is perfect

I dunno about you guys, but I much prefer to see label scans on the videos rather those non-de-script cartoon type things.

"Foolish Me"...is that a Detroit recording. It's got a lot going on in a Detroit kind of way, love it. Thanks Mr Soul...right, what's the next one

I have a one-sided Chess 45 of hers, "Big Bad Wolf [[You Can't Come In)", on which she is backed by the Dells.

Best,

Mark
