Gladys knight mini series is in the works

Gladys Knight is gearing up for a scripted mini-series about her life.

She teamed up with Cineflix Productions to develop the series and she will exec produce through her Empress of Soul Productions banner.


If the project progresses, Knight would become the latest soul legend to have a series set around her

It will be interesting to see whether this gets made--hopefully it does. Part of me thinks that a mini-series format is the best way to tell the stories of ANY of our Motown greats. A 90-120-minute format [an average theatrical movie] can be a little limiting and often forces the production to pick and choose what life/career events are covered. With a multiple chapter format, they could produce a 4-6 HOUR mini-series to cover the story. I think there's so much good stuff to be covered that a shorter format [[theatrical film) can sometimes paint an incomplete picture.

I saw the Aretha movie and the mini series and I enjoyed the mini series much more because of the reasons you pointed out
