I don't listen much to tracks by Teena Marie but I've found one that isn't bad - probably because it's such a familiar song. Can't beat Brenda, of course, but at least I can listen to this version too.

I love Teena Marie but Brenda still owns this song. And if I'm not mistaken the male voice towards the end of the song is Rick James.

I like Teena's version almost as much as I like Brenda's original. But the track from Teena's first Gordy album that I'm totally in love with is "I Can't Love Any More". It builds and builds until the grand climax near the end when it explodes with the strings and back-up girls. A magical Motown moment, for sure!
