Lionel was featured on a segment on this morning's CBS Morning News at 9 AM today. It was a brief recap of his entire career as well as segments of some of his various songs that he sang.

The moderator told him it's been 13 years since he has had a new album and when will there be a new one? Lionel stated by the end of this year. So we have something to look forward to.

Lionel never seems to get much attention on the Motown Forum. A shame as he is a great Motown artist and has a rich history.

Here is a video of his interview.

Thanks so much Woodward for that excellent interview. You’re right, Lionel gets very little mention compared to others. Maybe because he seems so ʺmodern“ [[or is that just me?). And while I got it so wrong over my ʺDon’t Look Any Further“ post on foreign language in songs Lionel himself admits his mumbo jumbo on All night Long LOL. With this reminder of Lionel’s great contributions I’m off to play me some. Great news about new music coming.

I’m not that familiar with Lionel's last couple of albums, although I know that his most recent one, Tuskegee [2012] did quite well. It would be great to have a new album!!

Personally I think Lionel ranks among all the Motown greats. He was even there at the very end of the ‘Golden Age’, with the 1972 Commodores single "The Zoo [The Human Zoo]"! :D
